Digital Desk: A shocking incident caused widespread panic late at night in Katigorah when two youths allegedly launched an attack on the vehicles of a groom’s procession using sharp weapons.
The attack left at least eight vehicles damaged and injured four drivers. The incident took place at Bhubaneshwarnagar village under Katigorah in Cachar district.
Reports suggest that the groom's party, travelling from Govindapur to Bhubaneshwarnagar to bring the bride, became the target of the violent assault.
According to sources, the confrontation stemmed from a minor argument between a member of the groom’s side and a local youth. The altercation soon escalated into a violent confrontation.
It is alleged that the youth later returned with another accomplice, both armed with sharp weapons (dao).
Without any warning, the youths reportedly began attacking the parked vehicles in the groom's convoy, damaging them one after another.
In the chaos, eight vehicles belonging to the groom's party suffered extensive damage, while four drivers sustained injuries.
Some drivers fled the scene, fearing for their lives, as the attackers' aggression intensified.
Police arrived promptly after receiving information about the incident and brought the situation under control.
The accused youths were detained, and authorities have launched a detailed investigation into the matter.
