Guwahati: Mizoram has recently occupied three houses of the Assamese people in Sutbhubirband of Ratabari in Karimganj district’s Assam Mizoram border and also removed the owners of the place, sources. As per sources, Mizoram Police has made bunkers at the place and about 200 Mizo police have been deployed at the border area. Mizo IR battalion has currently occupied a portion of the Rangpur Forest Beat area of Ratabari constituency in Karimganj.

This incident has worried the people of the border area, that if they will be also subjected to this violence between the states. Expressing the fear after losing land, the local Assamese people are now worried about losing their farm and crops to the Mizos.

As the travel advisory by the Government of Assam, incoming and outings in the disputed area have been stopped and has also advised Assam people to not travel to Mizoram.

Mizo signboard has been installed at 7 kms away from the border inside Assam by YMA, sources. Mizoram government is using drones to keep an eye at the border areas and with the help of microphones, the YMA is warning the Mizo people to be ready for any kind of situation.

Fear of being attacked by the Mizo civilians and police at any moment is there in the minds of the local Assamese people of the border area.
