Actor Siddhanth Kapoor and four others who were granted bail will have to appear before the police as and when they are summoned.
Digital Desk: Siddhant Kapoor, the son of veteran actor Shakti Kapoor and the brother of actress Shraddha Kapoor, has been released on station bail following his arrest on Monday after medical reports confirmed his drug use.
According to Bheema Shankar Guled, DCP East Bengaluru has also released the other four people detained with him. All the accused, including actor Siddhanth Kapoor, will have to appear in court as and when summoned.
Bengaluru Police arrested Kapoor on Monday for allegedly consuming drugs at a party in the city on Sunday night.
Bengaluru City Police's Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Bheemashankar S Guled revealed that Kapoor's medical reports confirm drug use, saying, "Siddhanth Kapoor's medical records show that he used drugs. We've already arrested him and are following protocol. We will place him in judicial custody."
Based on an apex, police raided a hotel on MG Road on Sunday night, where a party was being held. "We learned last night that a party is going on, and drugs have been consumed. We conducted a raid and detained 35 people. We didn't find drugs on them, but we found MDMA and ganja nearby. We'll look into CCTV to see who disposed of it, "DCP Guled added.
The police sent samples of people suspected of using drugs for medical testing, and Siddhanth's sample was one of six that tested positive.
However, it was unclear whether the accused had consumed drugs at the hotel or arrived at the party after consuming drugs elsewhere. "The hotel has been notified, and we have asked specific questions to which they must respond. Bengaluru police have declared a drug war, which was part of it. We had conducted a raid earlier in the month, and 34 people had tested positive for drugs, "DCP East was added.
In 2020, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) requested a statement from Shraddha Kapoor as part of their investigation into the possible link between narcotics and the death of Bollywood star Sushant Singh Rajput. The NCB investigation team had recorded her testimony concerning the drug case linked to the Bollywood drugs connection and Sushant's case.
