RTI activists claimed that supporters of the Indian cricket team were insulted by Mitchell's act...

Digital Desk: Australian cricket player Mitchell Marsh has been the target of an official complaint after receiving backlash for resting his feet on the World Cup trophy, according to reports on Friday.

RTI activist Pandit Keshav reportedly filed the FIR in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. He claimed that supporters of the Indian cricket team were insulted by Mitchell's act of putting his knees down on the World Cup trophy.

Notably, the Australian cricket player received backlash after a picture of him placing his foot on the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 trophy went viral.

Additionally, Pandit Keshav sent Prime Minister Narendra Modi a copy of the complaint, requesting that the Australian player shouldn't be permitted to play cricket in India.

Marsh has been under fire from the cricket community and media for his disdain for the game's most prestigious award.

Australian captain Pat Cummins initially shared the photo on Instagram, and it soon went viral on several social media sites.
