Digital Desk: Rajasthan gears up for a pivotal electoral showdown as citizens flock to polling stations to elect representatives for the 200-member state Legislative Assembly. The BJP, eyeing a shift in power, challenges the ruling Congress, intensifying the battle for governance.

Today, polling commenced at 7 a.m. and will conclude at 6 p.m. across 199 constituencies, barring Sriganganagar's Karanpur seat, where elections were adjourned following the untimely demise of Congress candidate Gurmeet Singh Koonar. Stringent security measures blanket the polling process.

A staggering 1,862 candidates vie for positions, contesting before a massive electorate of 52,538,105 voters. Notably, 18–30-year-old voters comprise 1,70,99,334, with 22,61,008 freshly eligible voters at ages 18–19.

The present Assembly makeup stands at 107 Congress MLAs, 70 BJP members, and a mix of smaller party representatives, with two vacant seats, emphasizing the significance of this electoral tug-of-war.
