On December 15, 2013, the wedding took place in the afternoon at the Somnath Temple in Guwahati.
He married his long-term girlfriend, Dr. Rupa Hazarika a resident of Uzanbazaar and who by profession is a Professor at Gauhati University's Law College.
In the presence of family and close friends, the wedding ceremony was conducted at the temple. The wedding reception began at 5 p.m. following the wedding.
Dipanka Nath resigned as AASU president on Thursday, December 8, 2019, at an emergency executive meeting conducted at the AASU headquarters in Gauhati University due to his marriage.
