Digital Desk: Former Assam Education Minister and veteran politician Jatin Mali has passed away at a private hospital in Guwahati. He breathed his last following complications arising from high blood pressure and a sudden stroke.
A prominent figure in state politics, Mali served as the Education Minister during the Asom Gana Parisha (AGP) administration.
In addition to his ministerial tenure, the former MLA was a well-known leader who also contested as an independent candidate from the Palasbari constituency in the 2026 Assam Assembly Elections.
According to a statement issued by Downtown Hospital authorities, Mali was brought to the facility around 12 pm today.
He had suffered a stroke at his residence in Rukminigaon earlier in the morning, resulting in severe internal bleeding.
Doctors made all possible efforts to stabilize him, but his condition was already critical upon arrival, making resuscitation difficult.
Following the formal declaration of his passing, his mortal remains will be taken to his residence in Rukminigaon before being transported to his home in Palasbari for final rites.
His demise marks the end of a long and dedicated career in public service, leaving a void in Assam's political landscape.
