Digital Desk: On Monday night, a former Cotton University student named Sanjan Gohain allegedly assaulted a security guard at the SNBC (New) hostel on the university's campus. The incident reportedly unfolded when the guard, Purbajyoti Kalita, tried to stop Gohain and another person from drinking alcohol on the premises. Despite the guard's efforts, Gohain is said to have continued drinking and urinated inside the hostel.
The situation worsened when Gohain, with the aid of another individual, physically attacked Kalita and tore his clothes. Following the altercation, Kalita filed a First Information Report (FIR) at Panbazar police station. It is important to note that Gohain has a record of previous cases at the police station.
Local residents have also reported that late-night drinking at the SNBC hostel has been a recurring problem, leading to disturbances in the neighborhood.
