Digital Desk: Pranab  Mahanta, a former member of the ULFA militant group and currently accused of acting as a linkman, was arrested by the city police.  A case has now been registered against him Boko Police Station. The Latashil Police arrested Mahanta, and he was handed over to Bongaigaon Police.


Earlier, during a raid at Latashil, a pistol with a valid license was recovered from Mahanta’s rented house. However, during a follow-up operation at the Haritulla Enclave at Latashil, on Thursday, the Bongaigaon police found a huge consignment of arms in the house belonging to Mahanta. Along with Mahanta, three others - Ketu Rabha, Shivajit Boro, and Amrit Ali, who worked at his warehouse workers were also detained along with Mahanta.


Deadly weapons and live ammunition were seized by the police from the residence of Mahanta as well as the three accomplices. The ongoing investigation continues to unravel further details about the arms network.
