The announcement came just days after a youngster from Assam's Demow tested positive for covid-19 last Tuesday.

Digital Desk: During the previous 24 hours, at least four instances of the Covid-19 virus have been recorded in three different locations in Guwahati.

While speaking with the media about the unexpected increase of Covid-19 instances across Assam and the country, state Health Minister Keshab Mahanta said four people tested positive in Guwahati. Two cases were recorded in the city from the Sarusajai region, one from the Radisson Blu, and one from the Assam Police Battalion (APBn) in Guwahati.

"There is no severe impact of covid-19 in the state right now," Mahanta added, "but we received reports of four people infected with the virus yesterday." Because their symptoms are modest, we have encouraged them to remain in home isolation until they are tested negative. It is not a matter of concern so far.”

"Our health department is fully prepared for any situation that may arise due to covid-19 infection." We have designated beds and isolation units at each hospital, but no incidents of people needing to be admitted have been reported," he added.

The Police Commissioner of Guwahati, Diganta Barah, tested positive for covid-19 earlier today, amid a surge in instances recorded across the country.

The announcement came just days after a youngster from Assam's Demow tested positive for covid-19 last Tuesday.

According to reports, evidence of the Covid-19 virus were discovered during a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) earlier on the day of the girl, a resident of Demow in Assam's Sivasagar district.

The girl in question had been suffering from a high fever for a few days before the virus was found, prompting the family to seek a Covid-19 test.

Doctors had advised her to remain in home isolation for the time being.
