Digital Desk: The Tripura government stated on April 17 that all schools in the state would be closed from April 18 to April 23 due to the extreme heat wave.

Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha stated on Facebook that pupils' health would suffer as a result of the state's extreme heat.

"With this in mind, the state government has decided to close all state government and government-aided schools from April 18, 2023, to April 23, 2023." Furthermore, the authorities of all private schools in the state have been asked to keep their institutions closed during this time," said the CM.

The state's daily temperatures gradually increased this week, with the mercury levels above the regional average. The state's temperature would rise during the next five days. According to IMD Agartala reports, the temperature has risen and will soon reach 40 degrees.

"The temperature may reach 40 degrees Fahrenheit but will not exceed it." So far, there is no chance of breaking the 40-degree mark. The temperature yesterday was greater than usual. Yesterday's high temperature was 38.9 degrees, and the scorching weather was expected to last for the following five days. "However, there is no chance of rain in the next five days," said an IMD Agartala official.

In the meantime, individuals were observed buying watermelons and coconuts to cool off in several marketplaces. According to IMD officials and doctors, residents of the state, particularly youngsters, the elderly, and those with pre-existing morbidities, should avoid going outside, especially in the afternoon time.
