Digital Desk: After a group of individuals from the Khasi community are said to have crossed the state line and vandalised a tea garden, a tense situation developed at the Assam-Meghalaya border.

The incident was reported from Hamren, a hilly town located in the Assamese-side West Karbi Anglong region. 

According to sources, the miscreants allegedly broke into the garden and destroyed the tea crop. The criminals also set fire to an outpost inside the compound.

Locals raced to the location as soon as they were informed and made an effort to prevent them from committing more harm. However, the criminals attacked them, and two of the villagers were injured. 

Both victims were taken immediately after the incident to a hospital in Hojai for medical attention.
