Digital Desk: Chairperson of the Haryana State Commission for Women, Renu Bhatia, made an extremely sexist remark during an awareness workshop on Thursday, (April 20, 2023. She was speaking at RKSD College in Kaithal, which was hosting a law and cybercrime awareness program. During her address, Bhatia made shocking statements about girls.

Bhatia, the program's chief guest, made female students aware of cybercrime and harassment cases. She also urged that the law regarding live-in relationships be changed. Regarding the Supreme Court's live-in relationship guidelines, Bhatia stated that the commission had "limited authority" in resolving cases regarding women due to the Supreme Court's live-in relationship law.

During her speech, the chairperson stated that the majority of the cases that have come to her have been of a live-in relationship. They cannot intervene much in such situations; instead, efforts are made to resolve them. In addition, in these cases, families get involved, which gives a poor name to both families. Bhatia further stated that the number of crimes is increasing as a result of the live-in relationship law.

Further, on the increasing cases of violence against women, Bhatia said, "Why do they go to the OYO room? Girls do not go to conduct Hanuman ji's aarti; before going to such areas, keep in mind that bad things may happen to you."

Bhatia stated that confessions are frequently recorded on behalf of girls who trusted a boy and he mixed something in her cold drinks, then did bad things and made a video. This has become a natural thing. Bhatia told the girls that if she goes to such a place, she will not perform Hanuman ji's aarti. In their friendship, something could go wrong. This is something to think about.

"If girls are mature in other fields, why not in this case? I don't know what happens to boys and girls and what wings they get once they go to college. Girls believe they can wear whatever they want, while boys believe they will have a bike and a girlfriend as soon as they enroll in college," Bhatia said.
