The central government has advised citizens to share only masked versions of their Aadhaar cards with organizations to prevent misuse.

Digital Desk: The central government seeks citizens to follow the advisory actively to share masked copies of their Aadhaar cards to prevent any kind of misuse.

In a news release on Sunday, the government said, "Do not give anyone a photocopy of your Aadhaar since it could be abused. Please use a masked Aadhaar instead, which only shows the last four digits of your Aadhaar number."

According to a notice issued by the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, unlicensed private enterprises, such as hotels and movie theatres, are also prohibited from collecting or keeping duplicates of Aadhaar cards.

The government declared, "Only those organisations that have secured a User License from the Unique Identification Authority of India can use Aadhaar for proving a person's identification."

According to the government, citizens should check that an organization has a valid User License from UIDAI before sharing their Aadhaar cards with them.

Furthermore, the government has advised citizens not to download their Aadhaar cards from public computers or internet cafés. "If you do so, please make sure you erase all downloaded copies of e-Aadhaar from that computer permanently," the ministry advises.

If you aren't aware of how to get your Aadhar masked up, then follow the below Procedure to get a Masked Aadhar :

Step 1: The official UIDAI website lets you download a masked Aadhaar card.

Step 2: Enter the 12-digit number from your Aadhaar card.

Step 4: Download the Aadhaar copy that has been disguised.
