Copenhagen: The World Health Organization (WHO) warned the people of Europe about the rising pace of COVID transmission. It stated that Europe might see another half a million Covid deaths by February.
WHO expressed serious concern regarding the Covid transmission. It stated, "The current pace of transmission across the 53 nations of the European Region is of grave concern,"
WHO Europe director Hans Kluge was cited as stating at a press conference. One reliable projection would mean "another half a million COVID-19 deaths" by February if the present trajectory continued, he said.
The WHO's European Region traverses 53 nations and territories and covers many countries in Central Asia. The organization stated that among 78 million cases in the WHO's European region, the cumulative toll now collectively exceeded South East Asia, Eastern Mediterranean, Western Pacific, and Africa.

"We are once again at the epicenter," Kluge further added. The extensions were seen "across every age group," he stated. He reportedly accused the high caseload on "inadequate vaccination coverage" and "the repose of public health and social norms."
But, Kluge stated the difference between tackling the virus now and earlier. He said that now that authorities know more knowledge regarding the virus. They have a better idea about using tools to combat it.
"Simple prevention rules and low vaccination rates in some areas demonstrate the latest wave. Therefore, we must improve our tactics, from responding to waves of Covid-19 to barring them from occurring in the first point," Kluge appended.
On Wednesday, WHO's headquarters in Geneva informed that cases had increased in Europe for the consecutive week. This rise makes it the only world region where Covid-19 is still growing.
As per official data, the Covid infection rate was the most crucial in Europe. The report revealed some 192 new cases per 100,000 people.
