Baharul Islam allegedly staged a dramatic act of suicide on Facebook at around 2:15 AM


Digital Desk: A sensational alleged love triangle case has surfaced at a homestay in Guwahati, where a 21-year-old  boy was found dead on 9th March. The incident took place at Berrywood Homestay in Jyotinagar. The deceased has been identified as Baharul Islam alias Sona (21), a resident of Nizarapar in Noonmati.


According to reports, Baharul Islam had been in a relationship with Preeti Deka for a long time. However, tensions reportedly arose between the two fter Preeti Deka developed feelings for another boy, leading to frequent disputes.


On the night prior to the incident, Baharul Islam had booked a room at the Berrywood Homestay for a party. He, along with Preeti Deka and several friends, reportedly consumed alcohol during at the party. During the party, a heated altercation broke out between Baharul Islam and Preeti Deka after the entry of another youth into the group.


Following the altercation, Baharul Islam allegedly staged a dramatic act of online suicide on Facebook at around 2:15 AM. However, later in the morning, his body was found hanging from a fan under mysterious circumstances.


Police personnel from Chandmari Police Station reached the scene, recovered the body, and sent it to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for post-mortem examination.


Preliminary investigation by the police revealed that CCTV footage shows Baharul Islam coming down from the flat at around 3:24 AM. Investigators also found that the rear window of the rented room was broken, and sandal marks indicating someone climbing down from the window were discovered during the probe.


The victim’s family has filed a complaint at Chandmari Police Station, alleging that Preeti Deka, with the help of another youth, murdered Baharul Islam.


Police have registered a case in connection with the incident and have detained Preeti Deka for questioning. A marathon interrogation is currently underway as investigators continue to probe the circumstances surrounding the mysterious death.
