The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) is promoting cleanliness and civic responsibility by launching a Swachhata competition among Puja committees
Digital Desk: As the city prepares for the grand celebration of Durga Puja, the Kamrup Metro District Administration has issued strict directives to ensure that all road construction work across Guwahati is completed well before the festivities begin. The action is taken with the purpose of providing a smooth traffic flow and a clean and healthy atmosphere on one of the largest festivals in the city.
The Public Works Department (PWD) has been instructed to accomplish all the on-going projects immediately. According to the order:-
· There will be prohibition of construction materials lying on the roads.
· All excavated places should be filled in and fixed appropriately.
· All departments will not be allowed to do any digging or road work after the pre-Puja deadline.
In addition to infrastructure readiness, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) is promoting cleanliness and civic responsibility by launching a Swachhata competition among Puja committees.
The reward system is as follows:
· First Prize will be won by 25 committees and they shall be awarded 10,000 each.
· 50 committees will receive the Second Prize of 7000 each.
· There will be 70 committees who will win the Third Prize, 5,000.
All registered Puja committees in the city can join this initiative with the intention to see the festival celebrated in a clean and organized way.
Governments also emphasized the necessity to remain alert to disruptive things that are compared to the demons and asuras of the ancient mythological world who attempted to destabilize peace. The government encouraged citizens to help in the quest to sustain harmony as well as helping to combat the drug abuse in the society.
Puja committees have been reminded to prioritize community spirit, cooperation, and discipline over competition, ensuring a truly joyful and united celebration.
