Digital Desk: A newly married woman was allegedly murdered by her husband in a case that has sent shockwaves through Guwahati.

The Odalbakra Police has arrested the suspect, Rupak Sen, on charges of poisoning his wife, Shruti Roy, to death.

The couple had entered into a love marriage on January 28 of this year, marking Sen's second's marriage following a divorce from his first wife.

Shruti, a resident of Bishnupur, had been married for only four months before her untimely demise.

However, Rupak Sen has denied the allegations of murder. According to his statement, Shruti had been unwell for several days.

He claims she was admitted to Marwari Maternity Hospital for treatment, where she eventually passed away in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Despite his defense, the police are proceeding with a full investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding the death.
