Digital Desk: In a chilling incident that has sent shockwaves through the Kharahat area of Demow, a mother allegedly murdered her four-year-old daughter before attempting to end her own life.
The victim, identified as Rushita Kalandi, was reportedly hacked to death by her mother, Kalpana Kalandi.
Following the brutal act, Kalpana allegedly attempted suicide by slitting her own throat.
Local residents rushed to the scene and immediately transported the injured woman to Demow Model Hospital.
Upon being notified, Demow Police arrived at the facility, took her into custody, and subsequently shifted her to Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) for advanced treatment.
The motive behind this extreme act remains unknown. Police have launched an investigation to uncover the full details of the tragedy.
