Digital Desk: An Uber driver in Guwahati was arrested on Friday by the police on the charge of attempting to rape a young woman passenger inside a car.
The incident took place at around 10:30 pm on Thursday near the Indian Oil Depot in Christianbasti, Guwahati.
The arrested accused has been identified as Maslem Ali who was arrested from Zoo Road.
According to reports, the young woman hails from Arunachal who was travelling on Uber from Ganeshguri.
Reportedly, the driver stopped the car at Christian Basti on the pretext of filling petrol. And taking advantage of the fact that there were no people around, he tried to rape the young woman.
The victim lodged a complaint at the Dispur police station in connection with the incident.
The number of Uber that caused the incident is AS 25 CC 1847.
