The state minister reported on Monday that a temple in Shimla's Summer Hill neighbourhood collapsed as a result of a cloudburst, killing at least nine persons and leaving more than twenty-five others perhaps buried by debris.
Digital Desk: Heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh caused devastation, resulting in landslides, cloudbursts, and blocked highways, killing at least 55 people. Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, stated on Tuesday that the death toll is likely to rise and that some of the worst-affected districts in the state are Solan, Shimla, Mandi, and Hamirpur.
"Up to this point, some 55 individuals have died in the state. The death toll could increase. On a war footing, restoration work is being done. The 4-lane Chandigarh-Shimla highway and other arterial roads have been opened," according to CM Sukhu.
He continued by saying that Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, had promised him all the assistance and mentioned that an army chopper had been sent to Shimla.
"I spoke to Amit Shah ji yesterday, and he promised me every aid. I also had conversations with Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka, JP Nadda, and Kharge. Depending on the weather, schools may or may not reopen. In case of an emergency, one Army helicopter is stationed in Shimla," the official said.
The search and rescue operations are still ongoing in the area. The state chose not to host any cultural celebrations for Independence Day given the terrible circumstance, CM Sukhu said.
The chief minister also paid a visit to Jadon, a community in the Solan district that was severely damaged by a cloudburst and lost a lot of people and property. Seven members of a family perished in the accident, according to the officials.
The Chief Minister noted that it was a heartbreaking tragedy and offered his condolences to the grieving family. He declared that the administration firmly supported the afflicted people in their anguish and assured them that they would get all available assistance.

He also went to Shimla City's Phagli neighbourhood to personally monitor the situation and offer assistance to individuals affected by a landslip that reportedly buried many homes.
In the meantime, heavy to very heavy rainfall was predicted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for many locations in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand over the next 24 hours. The Met department has issued a "red alert" for both of the hilly states, which will progressively become an "orange alert."
