Digital Desk: For the first time in Assam's 76-year cricketing history, a Test match is being held in Guwahati at the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) Stadium in Barsapara.
This historic match is expected to inspire cricketers from Assam to strive for excellence and achieve success at the international level.
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia highlighted this during a press conference held at the ACA Stadium in Barsapara on November 21, ahead of the second Test match between India and South Africa scheduled for November 22.
Saikia confirmed that all preparations for the second match of the series between India and South Africa have been completed.
He announced that the historic match would begin at 9 am on November 22, with stadium gates opening at 7 am. The event will commence with the national anthem.
Saikia expressed immense pride, stating that hosting a Test match for the first time is a significant achievement for Assam and the northeastern region.
He attributed this opportunity to the support and generosity of International Cricket Council (ICC) Chairman Jay Shah and extended his heartfelt gratitude to him for making it possible.
On November 22, BCCI President Mithun Manhas and Secretary Devajit Saikia ceremonially rang the bell to mark the commencement of the opening day of the inaugural Test match at the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) Stadium in Barsapara.
The occasion was graced by IPL Governing Council Member Mamon Mazumder, ACA President Taranga Gogoi, Secretary Sanatan Das, Vice President Romen Dutta, Treasurer Anupam Deka, and other ACA officials.
This ceremonial bell-ringing signaled the start of the first day of the India vs South Africa second Test match at the ACA Stadium.
