Digital Desk: On January 30, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate the much-anticipated multi-purpose sports project at Chabua, Dibrugarh, fulfilling a cherished dream of the people of Assam.


This ambitious project, originally envisioned by former Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, was initiated on July 5, 2018, with the goal of fostering a bright future for sports in the state.


Now completed, the project stands as a significant milestone, with an initial investment of approximately Rs 210 crore.


In its first phase, the stadium has a seating capacity for 5,000 spectators, which will eventually expand to accommodate 35,000 spectators in subsequent phases, as confirmed by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.


The world class sports complex boasts international-standard facilities for various indoor and outdoor sports, including swimming, running, and football.


Moreover, it features hostels for athletes, expert coaches, physiotherapists, a nutritionists to ensure the comprehensive support for every sportsperson's development.


Following significant advancements in education and healthcare, this multi-purpose sports project is set to play a crucial role in enriching Dibrugarh's sports infrastructure.


Residents of Dibrugarh have expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for his relentless efforts in completing the stadium within record time.


This landmark project will not only benefit Assam but also provide opportunities for talented athletes from neighbouring states like Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland.
