Digital Desk: On 4th march amid Holi celebration, in Hajo three young men drowned in the Puthimari River.


The victims have been identified as Jayprakash Kalita (28) from Nayanpur, Bishal Das (23) from Pakhmela, and Sandeep Kalita (22) from Santipur in Hajo.


According to reports, a group of seven friends had gathered near the riverbank for a picnic during the Holi celebrations. While enjoying the festivities, three of the friends entered the Puthimari River to take a bath but soon went missing.


Following the incident, a search operation was launched in the river by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF). Late at night, the SDRF team recovered the bodies of all three youths from the river.


The tragic deaths have left residents of Hajo in deep shock and mourning. Meanwhile, Hajo Police have sent the bodies to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for post-mortem examination.
