Recently, chocolate named’ dark fantasy’ from the trading hub of Assam, Mangaldoi became an ecstasy for the Burmese.
But how does the ‘dark fantasy’ is glowing brightly in Myanmar?
After completing a distance of over 2000KM and passing through Siliguri, Kolkata, Singapore, Yangon it finally reached a City in Myanmar called ‘Kale’.
Earlier on Friday, KK Dwivedi, Commissioner of the Department of Industries & Commerce, Assam proudly shared this piece of information with the press at the ongoing North East Festival in Guwahati on Friday.
During the 'Make in Northeast - DoNER Dialogue' session, Mr. Dwivedi also put some light on various aspects of the NE including how the term ‘ Northeast’ came into use in 1884 by the then Commissioner of Burma, Alexander Mackenzie, in his book,' history of the Relations of the Government with the Hill Tribes of the North-East Frontier of Bengal'.

Dwivedi also looked back on how Jyoti Prasad Saikia termed Northeast as the ‘ seven sisters’ while participating in a talk show in 1971.
He is also looking forward to better connectivity of NE with other neighboring countries in terms of trade for cost-effectiveness and to save time and energy.
''A team of officials and MLAs from Assam had visited Kale in Myanmar. In a small market there, they saw a bar of chocolate made in Mangaldai called 'dark fantasy'. After inquiring about it, they found the chocolate came through Guwahati, Siliguri, Kolkata, Singapore, and Yangon before reaching Kale town,'' Dwivedi said.
The chocolate traveled over 2,000 km and for nearly two months when it would have taken two days had it traveled through the border town of Moreh in Manipur, he added.
Once there is a connectivity network, trade and commerce will accelerate, he asserted.
The DoNER Dialogue under the chairmanship of Union Tourism, Culture, and Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Minister G Kishan Reddy saw a series of discussions highlighting the Northeast as an ideal destination for investments and start-ups.
