The two brothers have not met in the past eight years since Modi became prime minister, Prahlad said. "Even when he meets our mother, Heeraben, nobody from the family is present," he added.

Digital Desk:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's younger brother, Prahlad Modi, has plans to attend a protest march in Delhi to demand that the central government increase and fix a uniform commission rate for fair-priced shop dealers across the country.

If the requests made by the All India Fair Price Shop Dealers Federation, of which Prahlad Modi is vice-president, are not met by the end of July, a protest march would be organised on August 2nd. The march is set to start in Ramlila Maidan and end at Parliament.

Fair pricing stores (FPS) have been granted permission to distribute ration-card users with necessary commodities like as rice and wheat, among other things.

The All India Fair Pricing Store Dealers Federation, based in Kolkata, represents fair price shop owners and strives to "achieve a Universal Public Distribution System and imagine an India devoid of hunger, "according to its official website.

According to Kali Charan Gupta, co-president of the federation, they have been requesting a larger commission for over ten years. "On 1 kilogramme of ration, we used to get 70 paisa commission; now we get 90 paisa. "We've been seeking a Rs 4 commission," he stated.

It also calls for a statewide standardised commission for FPS owners. "In certain places, such as Meghalaya, it is as low as Rs 30 per quintal. The federal government allocates a certain amount to state governments, who then carry it out. The federal government should set a uniform fee for all states "Pushpa Raj Deshmukh, the federation's co-president, suggested as much.

The younger Modi, who owns a ration shop in Ahmedabad, claims that he is criticising the government's policies, not his brother.

"(Even a mother does not provide without being asked) Bina maange toh maa bhi nahin deti I collaborate with the organisation and do what it asks of me. Whatever the organisation decides to do, I would fully support it "Prahlad Modi addressed the media.

The two brothers have not met in the past eight years since Modi became prime minister, Prahlad said. "Even when he meets our mother, Heeraben, nobody from the family is present," he added.

"Narendra bhai left the house in the 1970s," Prahlad Modi stated, referring to him as "the son of the country." Since then, he has been the country's son, and the country has become his family. As a result, discussing my relationship with him is pointless. "He constantly speaks up for the country's interests everywhere he goes," he continued.

Prahlad Modi, who has been with the All India Fair Pricing Store Dealers' Federation from its creation in 2001, has been pushing the issue of commission for fair price shop owners with the organisation for quite some time.

He will not be the first person to demonstrate against the government's policies in August. PM Modi demonstrated on behalf of his organisation in 2015, just a year after assuming office, requesting an increase in pay for fair-price shop owners and claiming that the NDA administration had "failed to live up to people's expectations."

After the Uttar Pradesh Police allegedly detained his followers, he staged a dharna at the Lucknow airport in February 2021. The claims were disputed by the police, who accused his followers of attempting to organise an event without first obtaining the necessary licence.

Later that year, he asked traders not to pay GST (Goods and Services Tax) unless the traders' association's many requests were addressed.

Prahlad Modi's relationship with the Prime Minister, according to Gupta, hasn't helped." Our chairman is TMC MP Saugata Roy. "Our organisation is affiliated with such illustrious names. But what are our options? He went on to say that if the Centre does not respond to their requests by the end of July, 15 lakh of the organization's associates will stage a protest march on August 2.
