The thrilling India vs. Pakistan match was watched by more than 3.5 crore people on Disney+ Hotstar, setting a new record for streaming viewership worldwide.

Digital Desk: India defeated Pakistan by seven wickets to win the World Cup match against them for the eighth time. Rohit Sharma, the captain of Team India, is impressed with his captaincy, his bat, and his biceps. Since the beginning of the tournament, the 2023 edition of the ICC World Cup has shattered a lot of enormous records. On Saturday, another mark was broken when the India vs. Pakistan match received a record number of viewers on streaming platform Disney+ Hotstar.

The thrilling India vs. Pakistan match was watched by more than 3.5 crore people on Disney+ Hotstar, setting a new record for streaming viewership worldwide. Earlier, 3.2 crore people watched the Indian Premier League (IPL) final match between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans.

Many people in the industry have criticised Disney+ Hotstar for enabling free mobile streaming of the ICC Men's World Cup 2023. The streaming platform retained the digital and television rights of all tournaments of the International Cricket Council (ICC) till 2027.

The achievement comes as subscription numbers to Disney+ Hotstar have been steadily declining over the previous three quarters. The reduction happened after JioCinema declared its serious entry into the streaming industry and obtained the rights to stream the IPL for the 2023 season. In addition, JioCinema now can stream well-known HBO programs that were previously only available on Disney+ Hotstar, such as Game of Thrones, The Last of Us, etc.

India and Pakistan

Talking about the epic match between India and Pakistan, Team India's bowlers snuffed out Pakistan's batting after 191 runs. Jasprit Bumrah, an Indian fast bowler, dominated Pakistan's innings with a stunning 2/19-ball session. The team received back-to-back wickets from spinner Kuldeep Yadav, which caused Pakistan's batting order to crumble.

Team India got off to a fast start in the chase of the low score of 192 runs, with boundary-smashing performances from Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. Shubman Gill was removed early by Shaheen Afridi because he did not think India would accept it readily. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma played in a good partnership, but Hasan Ali ended that with Kohli's wicket.
