The commission has also requested the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into and identify the main factors contributing to the ethnic clashes in the state.

Digital Desk: The head of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), Swati Maliwal, wrote to President Droupadi Murmu requesting interim recommendations regarding the ongoing violence in the state a few days after the DCW's visit to Manipur.
The DCW has requested that President's Rule be imposed immediately in the violent state and that N. Biren Singh, the state chief minister, step down.

The commission has also requested the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into and identify the main factors contributing to the ethnic clashes in the state.

The Prime Minister and a group of Union Ministers must visit the state, according to one of the commission's initial recommendations, to calm the situation.

Notably, on July 23, Swati Maliwal, the chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), and her team visited Manipur, where they spoke with victims in several relief camps and reviewed the situation there.

The Swati Maliwal also paid a visit to Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey and briefed her about the situation there as well as the residents of the state's relief camps. She also requested that the Governor step in and take necessary action against those responsible for the recent terrible event in which a woman was paraded naked by a mob.

Maliwal travelled to the state with her team, stopping at various relief camps in the state's hills and valleys. She spoke with people and asked them about their complaints.
