The gold bars were found in the smugglers' shoes, according to the police officers.

Digital Desk: Police reported on Saturday night that two smugglers were detained at a checkpoint on National Highway 36 in the Karbi Anglong district of the state and had 14 gold bars, totaling 2.323 kg and valued Rs. 1.30 crore, taken from their hands.

A police squad from Dillai Police Station in Karbi Anglong put up a Naka checking on the National Highway-37 after receiving information that a shipment of illegally obtained gold was being transported by bus (registration number MN 03-0403) from Manipur. This was done as a result of a tip-off.

The people detained have been identified as Manipur natives Mohammad Mohim and Mohammad Masaruddin.

The gold bars were found in the smugglers' shoes, according to the police officers.

An investigation is now being conducted.
