Digital Desk: With the hike in the tally of covid 19 infections in the country, as well as various reports of difficulties faced by taxpayers, the CBDT ( Central Board of Direct Taxes) has extended the previously mentioned deadline of income tax return on Tuesday.

The income tax return filing deadline for the Assessment Year(AY) 2021-22 has been extended to March 15, 2022. Earlier, the last date for filing the income tax return was December 31, 2021.

The Finance Minister said in a statement that, on due consideration of various complaints placed by the taxpayers due to covid situations and fault in the e- filing of various audits under the provision of the Income Tax Act 1961, the CBDT has decided to extend the time limit and due dates for filing income tax returns and various reports of audit for the AY 2021-22.
