Digital Desk: As Covid has surged, India has recorded 10,158 new Covid cases which are 30% higher than yesterday. Based on data from the Union Health Ministry, the number of active cases in the country has already grown to 44,998.

The infection figure revealed today, up from 7,830 cases reported yesterday, puts the total number of Covid cases registered in the country to 4,42,10,127.

The rate of positivity per day recorded was 4.42 percent, with a weekly positivity rate of 4.02 percent. Ongoing cases are currently accounted for 0.10 percent of all ailments.

As mentioned on the health ministry's website, the nationwide COVID-19 recovery recorded rate is 98.71 percent. The case fatality rate was calculated to be 1.19 percent.

According to government authorities' statement, Covid has entered the endemic stage in India, and instances will grow for the next 10-12 days before subsiding.

Notably, in the endemic stage, an illness is limited to a certain region, however, in the case of the pandemic stage, the infection spreads over a larger area or perhaps worldwide.

The XBB.1.16 subvariant of Omicron, which is causing the newest rise, is not a cause for concern, according to health ministry officials, because immunizations are effective against it.

Sources also claimed that the prevalence of the subvariant jumped from 21.6% in February to 35.8% in March, however, no incidents of hospitalization or death have been reported.
