With the T20 World Cup just a year away, the selected players are expected to form the core of the 2026 squad, signaling a long-term strategic approach from the selectors.
The announcement was made jointly by BCCI Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar and T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav, following a high-level meeting with BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia and the national selection committee. The squad is a conglomeration of veterans and fresh new talent, although there is also a little twist added to this group where a number of unexpected players that have caught the attention of fans and experts alike.
