This recognition shines a spotlight on the deliciousness and diversity of Indian cuisine...

Digital Desk: India's iconic summer delight, Aamras, has been named the number one "Best Dish with Mango" by TasteAtlas, a well-regarded online food and travel guide. This recognition shines a spotlight on the deliciousness and diversity of Indian cuisine, particularly when it comes to the beloved mango.

But that's not all! Aamras isn't the only Indian dish on the list. The ever-popular Mango Chutney also secured a spot in the top five.

Aamras:

Aamras is a delightful dessert from the western Indian states of Maharashtra and Gujarat. It is made simply by puréeing the pulp of perfectly ripe mangoes and is often enjoyed with puris (fried flatbread) for a sweet and textural contrast. The beauty of Aamras lies in its simplicity, allowing the natural sweetness and flavor of the mangoes to shine. Though some variations might include a touch of saffron, cardamom, or dry ginger, the essence remains the same.

Mango Chutney:

India's love for mangoes goes beyond Aamras. The list also includes another favorite, Mango Chutney. This sweet and spicy sauce made with ripe mangoes and spices took the fifth spot. Unlike Aamras, Mango Chutney has a more complex flavor with ginger, garlic, chilies, cumin, coriander, and brown sugar. It was also on TasteAtlas's "50 Best Dips in the World" list.

The list includes dishes from Thailand, China, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Mango Sticky Rice from Thailand ranks second, and Sorbetes from the Philippines are in third place. Other notable mentions are Aam Dal from West Bengal and Amba from Mumbai.

This recognition by TasteAtlas is a testament to the global appeal of Indian flavors. The simplicity of Aamras and the delightful complexity of Mango Chutney represent the vast culinary landscape of India.
