Digital Desk: The situation in the Middle East today, after Iran confirmed that it had used hypersonic missiles Fattah-1 in a renewed attack on Israel. The attack is the latest in a series of missile attacks by Iran, which started its confrontation with Israel, now on its sixth day, with what it branded a sixth round of operation called Honest Promise 3.

In another statement posted on state television in Iran, the IRGC said it has gained full control of the skies of occupied territories using its sophisticated missile systems. The Fattah-1, an under-development hypersonic missile later designated by the media as the Israel-striker, can travel up to Mach 5 and above, with a manoeuvring hypersonic glide vehicle in such a manner that avoids advanced defence networks such as Israel's Tsahal Iron Dome and Arrow.

Iran is not the only country that has used the Fattah-1 against Israel, as Israel was struck by a previous barrage during Operation True Promise II on October 1, 2024. Nevertheless, the recent attack is regarded as the most violent hypersonic weapon usage in the ongoing conflict.

With Iran gaining momentum in its attacks, former U.S. President Donald Trump left a shocking warning in which he said that Washington knows where the Supreme Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Iran is, but refuses to take him down, at this point, at least. Attacking the issue of Iran, Trump said that the country had to give its unconditional surrender and that America is getting tired.

Hypersonic missiles are very fast at speeds over 17,900 km/h, they are extremely difficult to intercept, making them a formidable tool in modern warfare. As it turns out, the Fattah-1 is standing in full power, and Iran's military ambitions are causing too much concern in the region and other parts of the world.
