Digital Desk: A shocking incident of mob violence has surfaced in Jonai, where a youth was brutally assaulted after being falsely suspected of being a child-lifter.
The victim, identified as Rahul Mishra from Milantirtha village in Jonai, was reportedly targeted around 10 pm on April 3.
According to reports, a group of 6-7 individuals, led by Rahul Pegu and Ajay Pegu of Bahir Jonai Bhakat Chuk first tied up Rahul Mishra before subjecting him to a severe and repeated beating.
The attackers also reportedly vandalised his motorcycle and stole his mobile phone during the assault.
Mishra sustained life-threatening injuries and has been admitted to a private hospital in Dibrugarh in critical condition for advanced medical care.
Following the incident, the victim's father lodged a formal complaint at the Jonai Police Station, prompting an investigation into the violent attack.
