Digital Desk: The transfer of Justice Nani Tagia from the Gauhati High Court to the Patna High Court has been recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium, states report on Friday.

A meeting conducted on August 23 reportedly saw the Collegium request the transfer of Tagia. Sanjay Kishan Kaul, Sanjiv Khanna, B. R. Gavai, and Surya Kant, in addition to Chief Justice of India Dhananjaya Y. Chandrachud, made up the Collegium.

Justice Tagia had asked to be shifted to the Tripura High Court in lieu of staying at any one of the Gauhati High Court's benches in a communication dated August 24.

According to the Collegium, the transfer request made by Tagia was rejected because it was seen to improve the "administration of justice."

"We have considered the request made by Mr. Justice Nani Tagia," the resolution stated. The Collegium rejects his request as having any validity.

Hence the Collegium decided to renew its proposal that Mr. Justice Nani Tagia be transferred to the High Court of Judiciary in Patna, which was made on August 23, 2023.
