KL Rahul returned to Bangalore, his hometown, and is scheduled to undergo extensive rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy...

Digital Desk: Injury and Indian players are currently going hand in hand, with several players on the injured list. Due to different health issues, Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, and Jasprit Bumrah missed the just-concluded WTC Final against Australia. Rahul was one of them to sustain a thigh injury during the Indian Premier League (IPL), and he subsequently missed the Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) remaining matches of the tournament.

He underwent thigh surgery in UK soon after he missed the WTC Final for the same reason. Meanwhile, the cricketer has returned to Bangalore, his hometown, and is scheduled to undergo extensive rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy. If PTI reports are to be believed, the cricketer is planning to return for the Asia Cup, which is reportedly going to be held in September.

With the World Cup starting on October 5, this is a crucial tournament for India. With Rishabh Pant still recovering from the horrible car accident in December last year, Rahul becomes an important piece in India's line-up as a wicketkeeper-batsman. Returning to his hometown, Rahul checked in at the NCA and tweeted about it.

In terms of PCB's hybrid model being accepted for the Asia Cup, nothing is being made official at this time. According to reports, the ACC has approved the model, with four matches set to take place in Pakistan and the rest of the tournament in Sri Lanka. The Asia Cup will be held from September 1 to 17, and all teams, including India, will get the opportunity to put their World Cup squad to the test.
