Digital Desk: Siddaramaiah has been sworn in as Karnataka's Chief Minister for the second time today, with Karnataka Congress president DK Shivakumar as Deputy Chief Minister.

The oath ceremony began at 12.30 p.m. in Bengaluru's Kanteerava Stadium, where Mr. Siddaramaiah took his first oath as Chief Minister in 2013.

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Chief Sharad Pawar, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar were among the opposition figures invited to the occasion.

On Thursday, the Congress nominated Mr Siddaramaiah aged 75, as the next Chief Minister and DK Shivakumar as the state's Deputy, breaking a tense standoff following lengthy talks involving the party's central leadership.

Mr. Siddaramaiah has been elected Chief Minister for the second time, following a five-year mandate in 2013. While 61-year-old Shivakumar, who previously served as Minister under Mr Siddaramaiah, will continue as the party's Karnataka state president until the end of the Parliamentary elections next year.

In addition, eight Congress MLAs were sworn in as ministers in the Karnataka Cabinet on Saturday during an oath-taking ceremony in Bengaluru.

Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot administered the oath of office and secrecy to the MLAs during the swearing-in ceremony at Bengaluru's packed Kanteerava Stadium.

Priyank Kharge, son of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, and MLAs G Parameshwara and MB Patil were among the eight MLAs.

Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra of the Congress Party were also present in Bengaluru for the swearing-in ceremony of Karnataka's new Congress governance.
