Digital Desk: A violent altercation broke out late last night near the Supermarket area of Guwahati, leaving three people injured, including one critically, following a domestic dispute that spiraled out of control.

The incident was said to be a result of an ongoing feud between Abdul Hafiz and his wife, Sumita Begum. As it was reported, Hafiz, who is a government vehicle driver at the state secretariat, has been abusing his wife for a long time. The couple, married for six years with two daughters, got into a heated argument that turned physical.

As the situation escalated, members of the family of Sumita Begum arrived on the scene to intervene. Allegedly, Abdul Hafiz, along with a group of 30 to 40 associates, physically assaulted them. During the attack, Najib Ali was seriously injured, including a fractured leg, and multiple wounds to his hands.

Witnesses claimed that Hafiz and his group attacked Sumita’s family with sharp weapons and fled the scene. The Dispur police later arrived and launched an investigation.

Abdul Hafiz has been residing in a government quarter near the Secretariat for several years. He hails from Hajo, while Sumita Begum’s family is based in Baihata Chariali.
