Digital Desk: A female student from Dispur Law College was reportedly assaulted in broad daylight at Fancy Bazar on Friday, following a minor traffic altercation.
The incident took place after a Thar vehicle, in which the student was travelling, was involved in a slight collision with a scooter.
According to reports, a group of non-Assamese youths initially targeted the driver of the Thar.
When the student stepped out to intervene and defend him, the assailants allegedly turned their aggression toward her.
Witnesses claim the attackers used helmets to strike the student and went as far as tearing her clothes in the middle of the road.
The brutal nature of the assault has sparked widespread public outrage and calls for swift justice.
