Digital Desk: The Chief Electoral Officer of Manipur has called for fresh voting at six voting stations located within the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency following the violence and disruptions that occurred during the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections.
This appeal has been duly made to the Election Commission of India by Manipur's Joint Chief Electoral Officer, Ramananda Nongmeikapam. The recent elections were marred by volatile situations that raised questions about the integrity of the voting process, which led to the conclusion.
Polling places Moirangkampu Sajeb Upper Primary School, Khongman Zone, and Iroisemba Upper Primary School were among those reporting disturbances. A reevaluation of the electoral process is required in light of these episodes, which were marked by mob violence and voting equipment destruction.
Additionally, there were major disturbances in the neighborhood throughout the voting process at Khaidem Makha due to the forced casting of votes by anonymous individuals.
Action has been taken in accordance with the Representation of the People Act, 1951, in response to these concerning developments. The Indian Election Commission has been consulted for additional advice on handling the problems resulting from these instances.
