Sheezan Khan was detained in judicial custody after being arrested for allegedly aiding Sharma in committing suicide...

Digital Desk:  Actor Sheezan Khan was granted bail on Saturday by a Maharashtra court in the suicide case of Tunisha Sharma. Sheezan has been granted bail by the court in exchange for a Rs 1 lakh bail bond.

Late last year, Khan was detained in judicial custody after being arrested for allegedly aiding Sharma in committing suicide.

Khan dated Tunisha, a 21-year-old, but their relationship ended later.

On December 24, 2022, on the set of a television drama close to Valiv in the area, Tunisha is said to have hanged herself. A report made by the mother of the television star led to Khan's arrest the next day.

R D Deshpande, an additional sessions court judge, ordered Mr Khan's release on a $100,000 surety.

The court also ordered the actor to surrender his passport and to refrain from leaving the country without first obtaining permission from the court.

Mr Khan's lawyer, Advocate Sharad Rai, said the applicant had sought bail on several grounds, including that the chargesheet in the case had already been filed and the investigation had concluded. He further contended that this case is not punishable under Indian Criminal Code (IPC) section 306 (abetment to suicide).

Sanjay More, a special public prosecutor, refuted Khan's claim that he was not there in the room when Sharma Tunisha committed himself.

Ms Sharma and Mr Khan, who were in a relationship but later split up, co-starred in the TV show 'Ali Baba: Dastaan-E-Kabul.' On February 16, the Valiv police presented a 500-page chargesheet in court.
