Mushtaq Ali alias Papu was brutally beaten to death by his own son Kabir Ali, causing widespread outrage in the area.
According to reports, the tragic event unfolded on Monday in Lurukihat, Golaghat district, where Kabir repeatedly assaulted his father inside their home.
Despite being severely injured, Mushtaq managed to escape and sought refuge at a relative's house.
He was immediately rushed to Shahid Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital in Golaghat due to his critical condition.
As his health deteriorated further, he was referred to Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH) for advanced treatment.
Tragically, despite the medical care, Mushtaq succumbed to his injuries last night at the hospital.
