Manipur: An unknown disease has claimed the lives of atleast 250 Asiatic Buffalos in the Ukhrul district of Manipur.

Reportedly, death has been reported from villages including New Tusom, Tusom CV Khullen, Kharasom, Wahong and Razai Khullen.

The Veterinary and Horticulture department was unable to explain the exact cause of the disease since its outbreak.

The Northern Raphei Students’ Union (NRSU) leader has called upon the Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Department to take preventative measures and give training to the people about animal domestication in the district.

In October, atleast 50 Asiatic buffaloes in New Tusom and Wahong villages died in the Ukhrul district.
