Digital Desk: Miscreants set fire to an open gym in Churachandpur that was set to be inaugurated by chief minister N Biren Singh on Friday.

Tensions escalated in Manipur's Churachandpur district. Following the incident, additional state forces were dispatched to the area to maintain law and order.

"The recent steps taken by the N Biren Singh Government in Manipur to protect the Reserve Forest and Protected Forest in the state have met with significant opposition from a section of tribal communities," sources told ANI. It should be noted that there was a considerable crowd waiting for the CM to arrive for the event.

Reportedly, the huge poppy plantations are thought to have grown swiftly due to the massive influx of illegal migrants from Myanmar.

The miscreants' claim that the government is intruding on their ancestral land and violating their rights is being generated falsely, a government source said.

"Such allegations are constantly leveled by external forces, especially poppy farmers and illegal immigrants plotting to undermine the chief minister's efforts to protect the state. They have become a danger to the CM's development plans," the sources claimed.

To counteract these anti-national forces, attempts have been launched to detect illegal immigrants in the state. A sub-committee has been constituted to conduct identification drives for illegal migrants in various districts.

A Manipur Population Commission has been established to collect data and ground reports. Meanwhile, the state government is establishing temporary shelters for Myanmarese nationals who have entered the state to escape the ongoing crisis.
