Over the past few days, the ethnic clashes in the state ignited again, killing both civilians and members of the military forces.

Digital Desk: Several Manipur BJP MLAs will meet with the central leadership in Delhi to urge them to swiftly put an end to the current violence in the state.

Over the past few days, the ethnic clashes in the state ignited again, killing both civilians and members of the military forces. Unidentified gunmen suspected of being members of banned terrorist organisations attacked civilians and threw bombs at a village in Imphal West district, which borders Kangpokpi, where three people had been killed a day before.

According to sources, the MLAs will push for an appropriate way to end the issue without delay in the wake of additional instances. Nearly 30 Manipur MLAs are expected to arrive in Delhi.

A resolution pledging the preservation of the state's territorial integrity was signed by 23 BJP-led government MLAs earlier this week.

"It is unanimously resolved by all the undersigned members of the Legislative Assembly that we would stand for the territorial integrity of the state of Manipur and no form of separate administration will be agreed to by us," the resolution read.

The MLAs had announced that they would head to Delhi shortly to urge the central leadership to find a resolution to the current problem as quickly as possible. N Biren Singh, the chief minister, did not sign the paper.

The ethnic clashes between the Meitei people, who form the majority in the Imphal Valley, and the Kuki tribe from the surrounding hills have resulted in at least 160 deaths and several hundred injuries. After a "Tribal Solidarity March" was arranged in the hill areas to oppose the Meitei community's petition for Scheduled Tribe status, the violence broke out.
