Digital Desk: A major fire broke out in Lane No. 7 along the Basistha–Beltola Road in Guwahati, gutting a rubber warehouse and causing extensive damage.

The blaze reportedly started around 3:00am and engulfed the warehouse, which belonged to Kerala-based KP Rubbers Company. Goods worth several lakhs of rupees were reduced to ashes in the incident.

As per reports, the warehouse was being looked after by a man identified as Sanjay Sharma. He alleged that the fire brigade did not arrive on time to control the blaze.

Fire and emergency services personnel later reached the spot and managed to bring the fire under control by around 10:00 am on 5th April .

A short circuit is suspected to be the cause of the fire, though an official confirmation is awaited.

Notably, four workers who were present at the warehouse during the incident managed to escape unharmed, narrowly saving their lives.
