Ransom Sutnga, a candidate for the NPP in North Shillong, and Lamphang Kharmujai, president of the NPP in Shillong City, officially welcomed them into the party.

Digital Desk: During a meeting conducted in the Dorbar Hall of Lawmali on Saturday, more than 350 members of the BJP's North Shillong section joined the National People's Party (NPP).

Ransom Sutnga, a candidate for the NPP in North Shillong, and Lamphang Kharmujai, president of the NPP in Shillong City, officially welcomed them into the party.

Speaking at the event, NPP candidate Sutnga claimed that the party's chances in North Shillong have much improved as a result of the BJP's leaders and followers joining the NPP.
More than 100 TMC supporters will also join the NPP in the upcoming days, he added.

A leader from the BJP, Alwyn Lyngdoh Nonglait claimed that the decision to leave the saffron party was made after Martamlin Pyrbot, the party's leader and a former MDC from Jaiaw, left in September.

Nonglait, the former leader of the BJP North Shillong, continued, "We all decided to join the NPP".
