The 71st Miss World, the oldest beauty pageant in the world, will include 130 130 national representatives.

Digital Desk: India will host the Miss World pageant this year, only the second time in the contest's seven-decade history that the event will be held in the country. The decision was made by the Miss World Organisation on Thursday afternoon at a news conference in the nation's capital. Although the precise date and host city have not yet been revealed, the 71st Miss World 2023 will take place later this year.

Chairperson and CEO of the Miss World Organisation Julia Morley spoke at the press conference, saying, "I am thrilled to announce India as the new home of the 71st Miss World Final! Since my first trip to this amazing nation more than 30 years ago, I have had a deep love for India! We can't wait to introduce the rest of the world to your distinctive and varied culture, world-class landmarks, and magnificent settings."

The 71st Miss World, the oldest beauty pageant in the world, will include 130 130 national representatives. The pageant will take place over a month, according to Morley. Miss World Limited and PME Entertainment will manage the event.

Jamil Saidi, Chairman, PME said, “The 71st Miss World Festival is in the most deserving country, to showcase this magnificent event. It enables representatives of 130 countries to come and experience Incredible India!”

At the pageant, India will be represented by Sini Shetty, who was named Miss India World the previous year. Along with the reigning Miss World Karolina Bielawska of Poland, Sini attended the conference.

The last time Miss World was held in India was way back in 1996 when Bangalore was the host city. 18-year-old Irene Skliva of Greece took home the title that year. Former Miss World Aishwarya Rai, actor Aamir Khan, and businessman Vijay Mallya were among the judges.

In the history of the pageant, India has given six Miss World winners, the first of which was Reita Faria in 1996. Aishwarya Rai in 1994, Diana Hayden in 1997, Yukta Mookhey in 1999, and Priyanka Chopra in 2000. In 2017, Manushi Chhillar was the last Indian to be crowned Miss World.
