Aizawl/Guwahati: In the backdrop of a prevailing border tension and so-called ‘economic blockade’ by Assam, the Mizoram government has urged authorities of Assam to provide security escort to stranded vehicles plying for Mizoram.

In a letter to his counterpart in Cachar district of Assam, H Lalthlangliana, Deputy Commissioner  of Kolasib district in Mizoram wrote, “It has come to my notice that several trucks carrying essential commodities and other passenger vehicles that are plying for Mizoram have been stranded within your jurisdiction”

He further guaranteed that there is no issue regarding the safety of these vehicles and drivers within Mizoram.

He also requested his counterpart Police escort these vehicles within the jurisdiction of Cachar/Hailakandi so that these vehicles could safely reach their destination.
